Dedicated coaching staff

Coach Mer has been grappling for 8 years and working with kids in education for 18 years. She is a mother and homeschool parent to two kids who also train and assist in the program. She has seen Jiu Jitsu from the sidelines as a parent and on the mats as a coach and student. The Tiny Grappler program is coach Mer’s favorite part of the day and she is extremely patient with all our little grapplers!

Little people - big growth

Tiny Grapplers get the chance to develop big life skills before they get to school! Our program provides a play based environment where littles learn the basics of following directions and discipline as well as developing social skills and of course - self defense.

Grappling based self defense is hands down the best option for children to learn. They will learn to safely defend themselves without strikes, making it the best and most reliable bullyproofing system you can enroll them in!

Jiu jitsu is a leverage based way for a smaller opponent to control a larger opponent and it is perfect for children and adults alike to build confidence, coordination and character!

Play Based - Goal Oriented

Tiny Grapplers meet twice a week for 45 minute classes to best facilitate learning without burn out. They focus on play based learning to keep them engaged without pushing them too hard. Little progress adds up to big results!

small class sizes

Tiny Grapplers enrollment is kept small to best facilitate their focus and overall experience. We train on our second mat space so they can go crazy bouncing off the walls and also can train as the same time as their older siblings train on the mat one space.

  • Your little can come in wearing something comfortable to work out in. Is that a Nike track suit? Cool. Is it their favorite tutu or princess dress? We get it. Tiny Grapplers do not train in the Gi as sometimes the tactile discomfort can be overwhelming to them. We suggest a pair of easy on/off shoes and a water bottle. We also have a water fountain and drinks for purchase so no worries if you forget one.

  • Tiny Grapplers is specifically designed and refined to be engaging for little minds. It is totally normal for them to be distracted or distracting for a while as they learn the ropes. Behavioral issues while they adjust are a normal and a welcome part of the program. We encourage parents to work with their littles at home to help smooth the transition process. Never hesitate to speak to our coaching staff if you have any questions about your child’s growth in Tiny Grapplers. This program is all about the long term benefits and we encourage little steps for little feet. Bringing your child consistently, practice at home and encourage their little victories - you will see a drastic change in your child within no time!

  • Remember, these are just little people! We are fully expecting them to be silly and free spirited! This class is designed to teach them the basics of following directions, sitting still, waiting their turn and being kind to their classmates. It’s totally ok (and we aren’t judging you) if you are thinking your child looks like a menace to the class structure at first! Every child goes through this and then learns the structure and settles in just fine.

Things that are great indicators your child is ready for Tiny Grapplers are:

    Being fully potty trained

    Not spitting on/biting people

Having the ability to focus on a fun task for 3-5 minutes

Being able to “Monkey see, monkey do” with you on basic exercises.

Remember your first week is free - so try it out!
